About the show

The Application Security Podcast has been running since 2016 —308 episodes and roughly 192 hours of conversation with the people who build, break, and defend software.

It is a practitioner's show. The recurring subjects are threat modeling, secure development, security champions, and what actually works inside real engineering organisations rather than what sounds good in a conference talk.

The hosts

Chris Romeo

Chris Romeo is a leading voice and thinker in application security, threat modeling, and security champions, and is a General Partner at Kerr Ventures. Chris hosts the award-winning "Application Security Podcast," "The Security Table," and "The Threat Modeling Podcast" and is a highly rated industry speaker and trainer, featured at the RSA Conference, the AppSec Village @ DefCon, OWASP Global AppSec, ISC2 Security Congress, InfoSec World, and All Day DevOps. Chris founded Security Journey, a security education company, leading to an exit in 2022. Chris also founded Devici in 2023, which exited in 2025. Chris was the Chief Security Advocate at Cisco, spreading security knowledge through education and champion programs. Chris has thirty years of security experience, holding positions across the gamut, including application security, security engineering, incident response, and various Executive roles.

Robert Hurlbut

Robert Hurlbut is a Threat Modeling Trainer. He is a long-time software developer, architect, and application security/threat modeling leader. He works to help developers, software architects, project managers, and others on project teams better understand secure software design and architecture through threat modeling and other secure application initiatives. He is a strong advocate for creating, building, and sustaining a Threat Modeling Program in an organization, as well as Security Champion Programs.
